Mt Eden Village Centre In November
We have a wide variety of events here at the Village Centre this November. From markets, fundraisers and worship … to concerts, meetings, Yoga and art… it is a busy month in Mt Eden.
With fewer than 2 months to Christmas, you’ll want to visit the Mt Eden Village Craft Market on Saturday for help filling your Christmas stockings. This Saturday 9 November pop in from 10.00am to 4.00pm. There will be a great variety of interesting stalls to browse. A feature of the Market is that items are handmade in New Zealand by expert crafters. It’s an opportunity to support local artists and find loads of beautiful handmade treasures and tasty treats, perfect for yourself or to gift.
Come and visit the last Mt Eden Wellbeing Market of the year on Saturday 30 November from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Central Auckland’s regular monthly mind, body and spirit Market has natural health therapies, advice and nutritional support, on-site massage, natural first aid kits and home remedies and much, much more. Pop in and have a chat to our local Community Police Officer on Thursday 14 November from 10.00am to 12.00noon. Coffee with a Cop is a good way to talk about things you might be a bit concerned about in your neighbourhood and our Cop is very approachable and would love to meet you. They are also here on Thursday 5 December.
Amma NZ is presenting a talk on Yoga in Daily Life here in the Hall on Thursday 21 November from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Join Amma’s senior Yoga teacher Brahmacharini Shobana for this session of an Amrita Yoga NZ Tour. Shobana is an award-winning practitioner and teacher who specializes in bridging the gaps between the ancient traditional Eastern practice and the practical, modern needs of yoga in the West. City Vision and Roskill Community Voice are hosting a Book Bonanza Second Edition in the Hall on Saturday 23 November from 10.00am to 4.00pm. This follows their very successful First Edition in April. There will be a huge range of fiction for adults, teens and children, as well as cooking, politics, travel, gardening, crafts, poetry and more! Come to the Village Centre for a delightful concert with Kanade Japanese Choir Auckland on Sunday 24 November. Piano and Voice Recitals start at 3.00pm with the Grand Concert at 4.30pm. The programme is popular, the standard is superb and admission is free. More information is here.
The Mt Eden Methodist Congregation invites you to join them every Sunday in their beautiful historic Church. Services are held at 10.00am with tea afterwards in the Lounge. Presbyter Rev Tevita Taufalele is also based here in the Lounge every Thursday morning from 9.30am to 12.00noon. Pop in and say hi or stay longer for support. Tevita can be contacted on 027 249 8221. On the third Sunday of every month we have the Fiji-Indian Fellowship worship service at 3.00pm. Everyone is welcome.
Mt Eden Village People have put a call out for generous people to assist them take care of the 75 fruit trees planted in the Mt Eden area. They need 8-10 volunteers, who would be assigned 4-6 trees to keep an eye on over the summer. Many trees are now established but a number will need an occasional bucket of water and mulch/compost and a bit of a weed. Looking ahead to December, Mt Eden artist Guy Harkness is holding his popular Art Sale of Paintings and Prints in the Foyer on Sunday 1 December from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
