Mt Eden Village Centre in August
It’s August at last and the Mt EdenVillage Centre is a great place to visit this month with weekly classes and support groups, our Craft and Wellbeing markets, a young artists art exhibition and more.
The annual Eden Arts Young Artists Awards 2019 is this weekend with entries accepted at the Centre tonight Thursday 1st August from 5.00pm to 7.00pm and tomorrow Friday 2nd August from 12.00noon to 4.00pm. The Award is open to artists between the ages of 16 and 25 who live or attend school within the wider Mt Eden area. The Exhibition of works is open to the public on Sunday 4th August from 10.00am to 3.00pm and is well worth the visit. Artists should carefully read entry and eligibility details about the awards here.
The Mt Eden Village Craft Market is here on the second Saturday of every month. On Saturday 10th August, pop in from 10.00am to 4.00pm. There will be a great variety of interesting stalls to browse. A feature of the Market is that items are handmade in New Zealand by expert crafters. It’s an opportunity to support local artists and find loads of beautiful handmade treasures and tasty treats, perfect for yourself or to gift.
The Central branch of Forest and Bird have a documentary screening and talk in the Lounge on Sunday 11th August from 5.30pm to 7.00pm. Loading Docs is a series of short documentaries on conservation; What Logan Did, Ajax the Kea Conservation Dog and Karearea. Hear from Karearea producer Sofia MacKenzie as she talks about how their short documentary came together and why they decided to feature New Zealand’s falcon. This is a free event open to members and non-members alike. A koha is appreciated. More information about the Central branch is here.
We’re so pleased to have Coffee with a Cop back here on Thursday 22nd August from 10.00am to 12.00noon. Pop in and have a chat to our local Community Police Officer, they would love to meet you and talk about what is going on in your neighbourhood.
Our regular Mt Eden Wellbeing Market is here on the last Saturday of every month. This month it is Saturday 31st August from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Central Auckland’s regular monthly mind, body and spirit Market has natural health therapies, advice and nutritional support, on-site massage, natural first aid kits and home remedies and much, much more.
