Come and enjoy our monthly central Auckland markets here at the Mt Eden Village Centre in July. Swing Out Central also launches their Midwinter Mess Around
here with a Friday evening Social Dance and of course we have Village Music with their third exciting concert of the year. Regular dance, fitness, cooking and language classes, and a kids performance workshop, make it a great reason to visit Mt Eden this month.
As a special treat, Grace is hosting a Yoga class this Saturday 6th July at 9.00am in the Hall. If you’ve struggled to make it to a midweek class, come along for a weekend stretch. Grace is also here at the Centre every Tuesday at 6.30pm, Wednesday at 9.30am and Thursday at 6.00pm.
A Midwinter Mess Around is an occasion to get out on the weekend of 12th to 14thJuly. Swing Out Central launch this Swing Dancing weekend with a Social Dance in the Village Centre Church on Friday 12th July from 7.00pm. Come and have a boogie with new friends and old, and polish your swing dancing skills. Tickets to Friday night at the Centre and the weekend workshops in Kingsland can be purchased here. Swing Out Central run weekly swing classes at the Village Centre on Monday evenings and Street Swing run weekly West Coast Swing classes on Tuesday evenings. Facebook for more information.
The Mt Eden Village Craft Market is here on the second Saturday of every month. On Saturday 13th July, pop in from 10.00am to 4.00pm. There will be a great variety of interesting stalls to browse. A feature of the Market is that items are handmade in New Zealand by expert crafters. It’s an opportunity to support local artists and find loads of beautiful handmade treasures and tasty treats, perfect for yourself or to gift.
Village Music is proud to present Mel Parsons in concert on Friday 26th July. Mel has won numerous awards and most recently toured as support act for The Proclaimers. This is a terrific opportunity to see and hear Mel in the intimate setting of our lovely old Hall. A “not to be missed” special night starts at 8.00pm, tickets are $40.00 and the venue is BYO. Our regular Mt Eden Wellbeing Market is here on the last Saturday of every month. This month it is Saturday 27th July from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Central Auckland’s regular monthly mind, body and spirit Market has natural health therapies, advice and nutritional support, on-site massage, natural first aid kits and home remedies and much, much more. The Mt Eden Methodist Congregation invites you to join them every Sunday in their beautiful historic Church. Services are held at 10.00am with tea afterwards in the Lounge. Presbyter Rev Tevita Taufalele is also based here in the Lounge every Thursday morning from 9.30am to 12.00noon. Pop in and say hi or stay longer for support. Tevita can be contacted on 027 249 8221. On the 3rd Sunday of every month we have the Fiji-Indian Fellowship worship service at 3.00pm. Everyone is welcome.
An exciting new community concept Food Prep 4 The Future has been trialled here in the Village Centre Kitchen over the last couple of weeks. The focus has been on gathering a new generation to cook nutritious, delicious, affordable and sustainable meals for each other and in a way that considers our impact on the planet. And finally, we’re excited to host the Eden Arts Young Artists Awards 2019 in the first weekend of August. A total awards prize pool of up to $7,000.00 will be awarded to local Mt Eden young artists at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday 3rd August at 2.00pm. The Exhibition will then be open to the public on Sunday 4th August from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Eligibility and entry criteria are here. Entries close Friday 2nd August at 4.00pm.
