Mt Eden Village Centre in June
We have a couple of important community meetings here at the Mt Eden Village Centre in June, as well as our fabulous markets, Village Music with an international twist, and a focus on photography in the development of fine art. Our
regular classes are also a good reason to get out and focus on your wellbeing… it’s never cold in the Village Centre!

Katie Matucci plays the finest Gypsy Jazz and Western Swing for your enjoyment, supported by fine NZ musicians Mark Mazengarb on guitar and Jessica Hindin on violin. If you like Norah Jones, Django Reinhardt or Old Time music you’ll love this show. This special night starts at 8.00pm, tickets are $35.00 and the venue is BYO. Buy your tickets here.
The Mt Eden Village Craft Market is here on the second Saturday of every month. On Saturday 8th June, pop in from 10.00am to 4.00pm. There will be a great variety of interesting stalls to browse. A feature of the Market is that items are handmade in New Zealand by expert crafters. It’s an opportunity to support local artists and find loads of beautiful handmade treasures and tasty treats, perfect for yourself or to gift.
Mt Eden Maungawhau Village Centre Society is holding a Public Meeting on Monday 10th June to discuss the proposed three-story development at 443-445 Mt Eden Road (next to Circus Circus). This is an opportunity for the community to give feedback on the upcoming presentation to Council on behalf of the MEMVCS and Mt Eden Methodist Church Charitable Trust. The meeting will start at 7.00pm in the Church. All welcome.
Don’t miss the exhibition ‘Deconstructing Photography +’ which is part of this year’s Auckland Festival of Photography. The exhibition is showing from Monday 10th June to Sunday 16th June from 10.00am to 2.00pm daily in the Foyer. The artists, Murray Noble and Diane Costello, have been long time contributors to the Festival and this year’s exhibition will explore a deeper use of photography in the development of fine art. Deconstructing artwork requires a whole new thought process. Everyone experiences angst and trauma in their lives at some stage and in terms of emotions it’s the taking apart, the deconstructing of self or things which is a cathartic exercise. Deconstruction is a way of looking at how something has been created and breaking it down into smaller parts…. Sometimes deconstruction looks at how artists can imply things they do not mean. Murray Noble 021 975 244 and Diane Costello 022 088 7928.
