And the Mt Eden Village Business Association is bringing their wildly popular guided Heritage walks back for this annual event.

The Auckland Electric Tramways Trust is the caretaker of a multitude of tramway collections which comprise blueprints, tracings, microfilms, film footage, uniforms, ephemera and even tram bodies themselves.

The collection is the result of efforts by numerous volunteers who have curated hundreds of items of significance. These items include the collection of the late Ian Stewart ONZM, which has never been on public view.

The focus of the Mt Eden by Tram Heritage Festival Exhibition and Presentation is to showcase the various collections and to show the public what Auckland was like in the 1950s to early 1980s.

The Mixed Media Presentation will focus on the scrapping of the Auckland Tramway system and how the Tramway preservation movement by volunteers began. It will also present, in an entertaining way, the work that the Trust plans to undertake in the preservation and interpretation of our Tramway and Public Transport Heritage. A conceptual link between the former Auckland Tramway system and the planned Auckland Light Rail system will enable the community to appreciate the benefits of light rail.

Bring the kids, bring friends and family, grandparents and all to this very distinctive and entertaining two day Exhibition and Wednesday evening Presentation. The Trust would like to acknowledge the generous support of the Albert-Eden Local Board.
