Mt Eden Gardens' location is without a doubt, one of the best for a retirement village in Auckland.
Traditionally, retirement villages have been built on the edge of suburbs or towns, requiring residents to have a car to get to the neighbourhood shops or to rely on the village bus. When you live at Mt Eden Gardens, you have the freedom to simply take a 5 minute walk down to Mt Eden Village where you will find:
- A mini-supermarket for your everyday needs.
- A great fruit and vege shop and the neighbourhood butcher, baker and fresh fish shop.
- A range of cafes to meet for coffee and cake, or a longer lunch or dinner.
- An extensive pharmacy, post shop and bank.
- A range of boutique stores catering to virtually every need.
Nearby there is a Medical Centre, hairdressers and other services. And with a slightly longer walk you can visit the local bowling, tennis or petanque clubs; a range of different churches; an indoor heated swimming pool and much more.
For those who want to venture further afield, the bus stop outside the gate provides easy access to central Auckland, with bus services to Newmarket and St Lukes leaving from within Mt Eden Village.
When you choose to live at Mt Eden Gardens, you will find yourself at the very heart of a community.
The reasons that inspired the creation of UP in 1995 are the same reasons that are driving us today. We'd both worked in large real estate operations and seen that bigger was not necessarily better for the homeowner. Every vendor's situation is different and every property is different. We believe the only way to consistently provide exceptional service is to focus on a limited number of customers at a time.
Our company is founded on honesty, trust and teamwork. You can expect our people to listen carefully before they create an approach to selling that's built around your preferences. It's about developing a high-quality bespoke solution that leaves nothing to chance.
As owners, we are committed to leading a great company not a big one. So market share is not our first priority. We imagine our top priority mirrors yours – to get the best possible price for your home in a way that feels right for you.
We look forward to congratulating you on a great sale.
Our thriving Mt Eden operation began in 2000. Initially we worked out of a two-bedroom home unit, but jumped at the chance to purchase the Mt Eden BNZ branch when it came on the market.
Following an extreme makeover by Crosson Clarke Carnachan Architects, our light and airy haven at 435 Mt Eden Road is an eye-pleasing addition to the village vibe.
Our office is perfectly positioned in the hub of the Village next to Circus Circus café. We are proud to be a part of the Mt Eden community where the locals are passionate about their Village and have a strong community spirit, particularly embracing the Arts, Sport and all things "family". With a mixture of beautifully restored villas and bungalows together with units and apartments there is something for everyone. Being amongst some of the country's finest schools including Maungawhau Primary School, Mt Eden Normal Primary School, Epsom Normal Intermediate, Epsom Girls Grammar School and Auckland Boys Grammar there is always a strong demand from buyers wanting to move into the area. Offering houses and apartments for sale and a strong Property Management team headed by our Award winning Property Manager. Ray White Mt Eden Village are strong supporters of sale by Auction. This is due to the huge demand for property in Mt Eden and its surrounding areas and where there is continually a shortage of available homes in buy. Our experience is that with Auction we ensure that we have a transparent sale process where we can achieve the best possible price on the day for our clients.
Barfoot & Thompson Mt Eden opened its doors in 1965, and today is the dominant player in the area - selling more Mt Eden properties than any other real estate company. The branch has also ranked in the top three of all 64 Barfoot & Thompson branches for the past few years.
Branch Manager Ian Gray puts this success down to the vast experience and low turnover of the team at Mt Eden. Ian himself has been with Barfoot & Thompson since 1964 and Branch Manager since 1977, and the majority of other staff for more than 10 years.
What's more, Barfoot & Thompson is non-franchised - which means you not only have access to the knowledge of Mt Eden's most experienced real estate agency, but to the selling power of over 1,300 Barfoot & Thompson agents across Auckland. All properties listed with Barfoot & Thompson are shared among company's 64 branches, giving you unparalleled reach and selling power. After all - you never know where your buyer will come from!
The Mt Eden rentals department offers dedicated property managers to look after your rental property, and is part of one of Auckland's largest rentals agencies - currently managing more than 9,500 properties Auckland-wide.

Residents are spoiled for choice in the range of educational facilities available, which may be why it is such a popular area for families. All primary schools are highly regarded and residents are zoned for the excellent Auckland Grammar, Epsom Girls Grammar and co-ed Mt Roskill Grammar.
As many of you will have already noticed after 10 years as nkb gallery, we have rebranded as Föenander Galleries ahead of the new year.
2020 will be a big year for the gallery, as we ease into the rebrand following the launch of our new - and much needed website. The new gallery is looking to maintain much of the character and relationships built up over the past 10 years while innovating to present a fresh, contemporary look and feel to bring about the next phase of growth.
The gallery will continue under the direction of James Brown and Elle Föenander with a core stable of nkb’s artists – many whom have had long associations with the gallery, including Michael Dell, Des Helmore, Ramon Robertson, Glenys Brookbanks, Matt Palmer, Adrian Jackman, Neal Palmer, Matthew Carter, Paul Woodruffe and Barry Ross Smith - all of whom are scheduled to exhibit in 2020.
A number of new artists have joined the gallery over the last 12 months. The introduction of Belinda Griffiths, Cathy Carter, Oliver Cain, Jake Feast, Laura Williams, Simon Ogden, and Billy McQueen who has his first solo show at the gallery in March, adding a depth of youth, experience and quality.
2020 will also see the gallery host a unique fundraiser for mental health, as part of our ongoing commitment to the community and giving back. Beyond this, the gallery looks to participate in it's first Art Fair both locally and internationally. You may have noticed from the use of Galleries (rather than gallery) we plan to operate not just with in the constrains of these four walls. We aim to curate pop up shows and events throughout the year in addition to the exhibition calendar in Mt Eden and a recently established partnership to be announced.
