The Garden Shed

This distination has a clever gardening theme, a backyard to enjoy and is the latest bistro joining the Village.

The Garden Shed is a tranqual place to sit down and enjoy a quite drink, lunch or dinner at the same time indulge in hearty local fare. From brilliant burgers and fries to hand-crafted platters best shared with friends.

There are also excellent craft brews and non-alcoholic sodas, created with soda from the kitchen’s special tap mixed with syrups from Wellington's Six Barrel Soda Co. Whatever you do, don't miss taking a trip to the astro-turf covered loos - they are some of the most quirky bathrooms in the Auckland region.

The kitchen is the heart of our restaurant and food that comes to you is from our heart, made with love and passion.

Being a food technologist and now a chef, I use my knowledge and creative flair to either create completely new recipes or to bring out the aroma and flavor notes from the existing ones. I believe the key to flavorsome food is fresh vegetables, herbs, meat and spices. I have fond memories of my mother using fresh ingredients to prepare all meals. Eating these meals together not only strengthened our family bond but it also provided a daily time for the whole family to be together.

This inspired me to create a place of gathering for families and friends to share their stories and laughter and most importantly create a place to share nutritious, honest, comfort food that takes you back to your childhood memories and helps you create new memories with your loved ones. Welcome to SITARA!

At SITARA, we prepare all base sauces and gravies daily from scratch using fresh and local produce. Encouraging innovation, my team at SITARA, continuously searches for contemporary dishes without altering traditional recipes to make the menu more interesting for our patrons.

We start with food in its simplest, most natural form. We purchase local and seasonal produce and complement it with cooking techniques that not only preserve nutrition but also produces healthy dishes. We care about our guests and what they like. The result? Our food is well made, the flavors are real, and well delivered.

Our goal is to educate our staff, customers, and vendors about the food experience and its effect on our physical and spiritual health, and on our environment.

Our commitment is to continually evolve our business model to improve our service, quality and efficiencies.

Gin drinks are a speciality – their gin collection numbers 28 right now, with more on the way – and they make their own shrubs, drink mixers made from fruit, spices, vinegar and sugar. Current flavours include Black Doris plum, star anise, and clove and bayleaf.

A great place for a sunny afternoon with friends.

Olaf's Artisan Bakery Cafe

Welcome to Olaf's Artisan Bakery Café in Mount Eden Village. Our Award winning bakery is in full view of the café, so while you dine with us, you can experience how Olaf, Nigel and Thomas make their European style breads from scratch.

Olaf is a German trained baker, pastry chef and chef, with over twenty years of baking experience in a wide range of establishments, from fine dining to first class catering, in Germany and New Zealand.

Olaf's real passion is for artisan bread. We make a range of traditional European breads from French Pain au Levain to German Vollkorn using only traditional techniques and natural ingredients. Long fermentation and skilful handling at every stage is the way we produce loaves with authentic European flavour, texture and crust. We do not use any flavourings, additives, preservatives or "bread improvers".

The result is a unique range of breads, which won 7 Awards at the New Zealand Bakery of the Year Award in 2012. Olaf's breads are the equal of any you will find in the true artisan bakeries of Europe.

You can watch Olaf and his bakers work, just the other side of the glass wall, but if you want to ask any questions or take a closer look feel free to, they love talking about their bread and are happy to give you pointers if you are a keen baker yourself.
