Mt Eden Village Centre in September
Our September calendar is packed with great reasons to get out and about in Mt Eden this Spring. We have concerts and markets, a meet the candidates
evening, Zumba Fitness and other fitness and dance classes, and an opportunity to meet our local Cop. Great reasons to visit the Mt Eden Village Centre.
For something wildly different, Anna Ye is holding a Zumba Fitness class in the Hall on Wednesday 11th September from 7.00pm to 8.00pm. Expect great music too but with moves, vibes and a groovy time. Zumba Fitness is a great way to burn calories, lose weight, keep fit, and improve balance and flexibility. For more information, FB “LiveItUp Dance Fitness” or email. Classes are $10 per person, per class. Check out our calendar for other Dance and Fitness classes at the Village Centre.
Pop in and have a chat to our local Community Police Officer on Thursday 12th September from 10.00am to 12.00noon. Coffee with a Cop is a good way to talk about things you might be a bit concerned about in your neighbourhood and our Cop is very approachable and would love to meet you. They are also here on Thursday 3rd October.
Those who attended the VoxPop Singers concert in May will be thrilled that they are back at the Village Centre on Friday 13th September. Classic Kiwi theme tunes, ads and singalong pop hits are delivered in energetic four-part harmony by a cappella enthusiasts. The Singers are a high quality (but not high-brow) a cappella pop choir founded in 2010 that cross-pollinates the energy, anarchy and fun of pop music with the intricate vocal layering of classical choral music and the rich harmonies of jazz and blues. This concert is sure to be a triumph too so don’t miss it! Doors open at 7.30pm and a limited number of $35 tickets are available on the night only. Beverages are BYO. FB "VoxPop Singers" for more information about the group.
The Mt Eden Village Craft Market is here on the second Saturday of every month. On Saturday 14th September, pop in from 10.00am to 4.00pm. There will be a great variety of interesting stalls to browse. A feature of the Market is that items are handmade in New Zealand by expert crafters. It’s an opportunity to support local artists and find loads of beautiful handmade treasures and tasty treats, perfect for yourself or to gift.
Wondering how you can possibly make the right decisions for you in the October Local Elections? Wonder no more. Mt Eden Maungawhau Community Advocates are hosting a “Meet the Candidates” evening here on Tuesday 24th September at 7.00pm. This is a public meeting for local residents to hear the views and policies of some of our Albert-Eden Local Board (Maungawhau Subvision) candidates. It promises to be an exciting and energising evening so come along and participate in our democratic process. More information about the Elections is here.
Our regular Mt Eden Wellbeing Market is here on the last Saturday of every month. This month it is Saturday 28th September from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Central Auckland’s regular monthly mind, body and spirit Market has natural health therapies, advice and nutritional support, on-site massage, natural first aid kits and home remedies and much, much more. More information is here.
The Mt Eden Methodist Congregation invites you to join them every Sunday in their beautiful historic Church. Services are held at 10.00am with tea afterwards in the Lounge. Presbyter Rev Tevita Taufalele is also based here in the Lounge every Thursday morning from 9.30am to 12.00noon. Pop in and say hi or stay longer for support. Tevita can be contacted on 027 249 8221. On the 3rd Sunday of every month we have the Fiji-Indian Fellowship worship service at 3.00pm. Everyone is welcome.
